What is Coagulation Analyzer?

A coagulation analyzer is an instrument that performs laboratory tests for blood clots and hemostasis. It is divided into two types: automatic and semi-automatic.

The laboratory examination of thrombi and hemostasis using a coagulation analyzer can provide valuable indicators for the diagnosis of hemorrhagic and thrombotic diseases, the monitoring of thrombolysis and anticoagulant therapy, and the observation of therapeutic effect.

Timeline of the Evolution of Coagulation Analyzer

The term Hemostasis comes from Ancient Greek Roots “heme”and “stasis” (heme meaning blood and stasis meaning to stop). It can be defined as the process to prevent & stop bleeding or the arrest of bleeding.

-More than 3,000 years ago, the length of bleeding time was first described by the Chinese emperor- Huangdi.

-In 1935, the original method of measuring prothrombin time (PT) was invented by Dr. Armand Quick.

-In 1964, Davie Ratnoff, Macfarlane, et al proposed the waterfall theory and the cascade theory of coagulation, which outline the coagulation process as a series of enzymatic reactions, downstream enzymes are activated by the cascade of proenzymes, resulting in the formation of thrombin and fibrin clot. The coagulation cascade has traditionally been divided into extrinsic and intrinsic pathways, both of which focus on factor X activation.

-Since the 1970', due to the development of the mechanical and electronic industry, various types of automatic coagulation analyzers were introduced.

-At the end of 1980s, paramagnetic particle method was invented and applied.

-In the year of 2022, Succeeder launched a new product SF-9200, which is also a fully Automated Coagulation Analyzer using paramagnetic particle method. It can be used for measuring prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), fibrinogen (FIB) index, thrombin time (TT), AT, FDP, D-Dimer, Factors, Protein C, Protein S, etc...
